京都大学の高田です。

毎年1月に開催されております国際会議 C5 (Conference on Creating,
Connecting and Collaborating through Computing) の論文募集を投稿させて
頂きます。

前回までの3回は京都で行われてきましたが，今回はアメリカ西海岸に舞台を移
し，カリフォルニア大学バークレイ校で行われることになりました。

毎年，Squeak, Croquet 等を用いたシステムや適用事例に関する発表も多数行
われています。論文集は IEEE Computer Society から，会議終了後に発行さ
れる予定になっております。

論文投稿締め切りは，Extended Abstract (4ページ以内) で 10月31日となっ
ています。

SCOPE
 Computers and networks now touch the lives of us all, from the
 youngest to the eldest members of the information society. The way
 we use them today, as passive consumers of human-based computer
 activities, must undergo radical improvement if we are to evolve into
 a true knowledge society. Effectively supporting active creation,
 connection and collaboration among all members of the knowledge
 society will be essential for future computer-based human activities.
 The C5 conference is for researchers, developers and computer users
 who are concerned about these issues. It is an international forum for
 presenting ongoing work and discussing future needs and directions
 in the areas of creative and collaborative computing and multimedia
 authoring environments - for work, play and learning. We welcome
 equally the submission of technical papers and practitioner/
 experience reports.

TOPICS OF INTEREST
 Topics of interest include but not limited to
 - Development and applications of wide area collaboration enviroment
 - User collaboration utilizing 3D, multimedia, and animation objects
 - Technologies for creating educational environments
 - Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL)
 - Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), virtual teaming,
   distributed work, and e-collaboration
 - Hybrid technology activities, such as scientific experiments,
   instrumentation, robots, and game playing

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
 Original papers concerned with both theory and practice are
 solicited. Extended abstract with 4 page limit should be submitted by
 the paper submission deadline. The abstracts are reviewed by the
 program comittee and authors will be notified about acceptance.
 Accepted authors have to submit a full paper with 8 page limit by the
 camera-ready copy deadline.
 Both extended abstracts and full papers should follow the formatting
 instructions provided by "IEEE Computer Society Press -
 Proceedings Author Guidelines" (available at
 http://www.computer.org/portal/pages/ieeecs/publications/author/instruct.html). 
 Extended abstracts and camera-ready papers should be
 sent electronically to c5-06 ＠ db.soc.i.kyoto-u.ac.jp. The PDF,
 Postscript and MS-WORD formats are acceptable.

IMPORTANT DATES
 Extended abstract submission: October 31, 2005
 Notification of acceptance: December 1, 2005
 Full paper camera-ready copies: January 10, 2006
 
PUBLICATION
 Preliminary version of the proceedings will be distributed during the
 conference. The formal version of the proceedings will be published
 by IEEE Computer Society Press and sent to authors after the
 conference.
